FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of vehicles can you deal with?
We can deal with all types of vehicles — from light passenger cars, SUVs and 4WDs to heavy vehicles, trucks, buses, and machinery.
How long does a car inspection take?
Our pink slip inspection usually gets completed in 30 to 45 minutes, and the blue slip may take an hour.
Do you repair car air conditioning systems at Windsor Mechanical & Engineering?
Yes — Windsor Mechanical & Engineering offers full automotive repair services, including air conditioning diagnostics, maintenance, repair and component replacement as part of their mechanical services.
What's included in a standard brake pad replacement?
Our standard replacement includes new brake pads, a thorough cleaning of the callipers and mounting points, and lubricating contact surfaces to prevent noise. It does not automatically include new discs (rotors) unless specified.
Can you repair a tyre that's been driven on while flat?
We can inspect it, but driving on a flat tyre often causes internal sidewall damage that is not repairable. We will dismount the tyre and conduct a thorough internal inspection before recommending a repair or replacement for your safety.
What is the difference between a drive tyre and an all-position tyre?
Drive tyres have deeper, more aggressive tread patterns for maximum traction and are specifically for powered axles. All-position tyres are more versatile with a balanced tread design and can be used on steer, drive, or trailer axles.
Do you offer mobile auto electrical services for on-site repairs?
Yes, depending on the issue and your location. For urgent cases like flat batteries or starter motor failures, we can come to you and provide reliable on-the-spot assistance.
How often should I service my truck if I drive long distances regularly?
If your truck covers long routes frequently, we recommend servicing it every 15,000 to 20,000 km or every 3 months – whichever comes first. Frequent inspections help detect wear early and prevent roadside failures.
Do 4WDs need special fluids compared to normal cars?
Yes. Many 4WDs require specific oils and fluids for their differentials, transfer cases, and gearboxes to handle heavier loads and off-road conditions effectively.
Are your mechanics licensed and certified?
Absolutely, our team holds all necessary certifications, and they are trained to offer top-notch car repair service.
How do I know if it’s an electrical fault and not mechanical?
If the issue involves lights, sensors, the battery, or inconsistent performance, it’s likely electrical. Our team will perform thorough diagnostics to pinpoint the issue.
